History
The rB3DP started out as a quick enhancement of a 2D drawing machine, but became a real challenge to bring the concept to reality. For example, the implementation of pellet extruder came to a sudden stop when the mass of plastic needed for 1m x 1m x 5mm wall turned out to be 5 or 6 kilograms.

ScheduleThe whole project has dragged out to be far longer than originally anticipated. What was originally going to be an agglomeration of already published designs has grown into a series of trial-and-error iterations of the effector.

SpeedThe speed of the rB3DP is (currently) determined by the maximum stepping rate of the very inexpensive steppers, resulting in about 500 mm/min. At least at this speed, acceleration is not really an issue, so swinging is not expected to be a serious impediment to accuracy.
